... your kid goes to school in one of your shirts... and it fits.

This was the year that my son caught up to me in height. He still has several years of growth in him, so I expect he will be 4-6 inches taller than me.
On the plus side, he will need to gain some weight if he wants to wear my clothes.

I told our kid the other day that in a few years he’all be taller than my wife, she’s 5'1" and he’s almost 9. He almost didn’t believe me.

My middle son passed me in height just a few days ago — right before his 17th bday. My younger son likely will catch up to me in a year. My oldest boy is the smallest, so he won’t get me — but he’s close enough that he started stealing all my tshirts a couple of years ago.

They just don’t stop, do they?
To be fair, my shirt looked big on my kid... but like it was a size too big, not several sizes too big.

My 12 yo. is now wearing my shirts that are just a bit too small for me (thanks to me doing laundry). He is about 5'6" now and gaining quickly on my wife. As he keeps telling her: “soon...”

either your kid is fat, or you are thin

I’m relatively thin, and not super tall. My boys look like they’re going to take after their mother’s side, which means they’ll probably be lean 6-footers.
